Plomp outlined wordmark primary

Privacy

Last updated 23 October 2026. Covers the Plomp app for iPhone and Apple Watch, which is in private testing.

The short version

  • What you save in Plomp stays on your iPhone. Plomp has no server that receives your notes.
  • No accounts, no ads, no analytics, no tracking.
  • Plomp only looks at your calendar or reminders if you turn that on, and it never changes them.
  • You can export saved data and delete it from Plomp. Unfinished writing is left out of exports and phone backups.

What Plomp keeps

The notes you capture, the people, things and places you add, preparations you save, follow-through plans, answers you give to optional questions, and the earlier wording of notes you correct. All of it lives in the app’s private storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS Data Protection, which keeps it encrypted while your phone is locked.

Your saved data may be included in your iPhone’s backup (iCloud or your computer), depending on your backup settings. Plomp doesn’t make its own backup. Unfinished writing is handled separately, as described below.

Unfinished writing

Plomp tries to keep a private copy of unfinished captures and follow-through drafts as you edit. You can continue writing when you return to the editor. After Plomp restarts, choose Restore to reopen the last version it kept. If Plomp says it couldn’t keep your latest changes, keep the editor open and try again. Tap Save to add the writing to your saved notes or plans.

This unfinished writing isn’t included in Export or your phone’s backups. If you restore a phone backup, an unfinished draft may be listed but unavailable to restore. Save a note or plan before relying on an export or backup to keep it.

Siri, Shortcuts and sharing

When you add or ask something by voice, Siri turns your speech into text under Apple’s privacy policy, and Plomp receives the text. Things you share into Plomp from another app are saved as notes, on your phone.

Apple Watch

Notes you capture on your watch wait on the watch until your iPhone confirms it has them. They travel directly between your own devices.

Calendar, Reminders and Contacts

These are off until you allow them. With your permission, Plomp reads calendar events to show your day, add context to what you capture and find free moments in calendars you choose, and reads one Reminders list you choose so those reminders appear as notes. It never writes to your calendar or reminders. When you add someone from Contacts, iOS hands Plomp only the one contact you pick, not your address book.

Camera and photos

When you scan writing or pick a photo, the text is read on your iPhone and shown as a draft you review before anything is saved. Photos come through the iOS picker, so Plomp only sees the ones you choose, not your library.

Calls and emails

If you choose to call or email someone from a note, Plomp hands the number or address to the iPhone’s Phone or Mail app. You see the message and decide whether to send it; Plomp never sends anything on its own.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Plomp schedules them on your phone. They are not sent from a server.

About the people you save

Plomp is for remembering things about the people in your life, who mostly won’t be Plomp users. That information stays on your device and is never sold or shared by us, because we never receive it. Please save what you’d be comfortable with them knowing you remembered. Plomp is not made for children to use.

Export and deletion

Settings → Export gives you a file with your saved notes, people, preparations, answers and follow-through plans, including saved earlier wording. It leaves out unfinished captures and follow-through drafts. “Forget” on a note or person removes it from the app. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your phone; copies inside earlier phone backups go away as those backups are replaced. Export and deletion are free and always will be.

Changes and contact

If this changes, the date at the top changes too, and anything significant will be explained in the app before it applies. Questions: support@plomp.app.
